Nothing happens unless first we dream.Carl Sanburg You see things: and you say, "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?"George Bernard Shaw This year Fundamental's is celebrating our 10th anniversary! As we look back on where we've been and forward to where we are going, we thought it would be a good time to reflect and reiterate our vision and our commitment to the Fundamental's community. Our personal quest to help children to become happy healthy and successful individuals began with our own children’s challenges. Ten years of working towards our mission has only strengthened our commitment. Our mission today is more relevant than ever.Consider these factors. In this age of television and the Internet it has become even more important that sedentary children are exposed to movement early in their lives in order to develop a long love of movement and healthy lifestyle. Children lack the face-to-face interaction that is necessary in order to develop a true sense of community that goes beyond what the Internet can provide. The world is changing so rapidly that in order to keep up and compete; your child's most important asset will be the ability to learn. At Fundamentals we offer high quality programs that use gymnastics and other movement activities to develop skills and habits that will help them compete and adapt to the rapidly changing world. They will gain a healthy self-concept and develop both emotionally and cognitively through our programs. We thank you for being a part of our community and supporting our vision! Ken Hoeg believes there is more to gymnastics than tumbling and winning. The sport is also about learning to achieve personal goals. Hoeg believes the goal of gymnastics is to get children physically moving and to build brain connections. "It's getting kids ready to learn," he said. "Everyone has a dream and the goal is how do we get there. Our main message is "drive the dream". No one else can get you there. You have to drive yourself. "There are three components - dream big, believe it is possible, and have a goal. The brain is goal oriented. "You can't put limits on anybody," he said. "Our core belief is that here is no limit and we are trying to do that through gymnastics. Excerpt from New Mexico Kids Article - Aileen O Catherine Jan 2006 Teacher Elsie Hoeg believes in the potential of every child. To understand that potential she accommodates the differences in her students, including the squimmers and wigglers who are traditionally viewed as troublemakers. Once their needs ar met they learn. And according to her it's all about keeping their brains happy. "Movement makes the brain happy" she says. You put kids in a state of learning when their brains are happy. ? |
