Ken Hoeg - Director / Owner

"We are the change we wish to see in the world" Mohandas Gandhi

Ken's passion for working with children, making a difference in the community, and love for the sport of gymnastics inspired him to open the doors of Fundamentals in 1999. Ken is a former NCAA gymnast and was ranked nationally on High Bar. He has enjoyed a long, professional career in project management and marketing and continues to be very active in the Albuquerque community. Ken has over 20 years of gymnastics experience working with children of all ages. He continues to do research and speaks to groups on the impact of early movement and brain development. Ken is also the passion behind Fundamentals Tumble Bear Island Resort. The fun and personable character of TBIR reflects Ken's love for children and desire to teach using creative and effective methods.

Dr. Elsie Moses-Hoeg - Director / Owner

Dr. Moses-Hoeg is an educator and researcher. During the last 26 years she has taught in a variety of settings including traditional and non-traditional classrooms. Elsie has worked with levels from kindergarten through post graduate. Her experience includes working with children with various challenges, including ADD, autism, sensory integration, and epilepsy. She has over 20 years of dance experience including a professional career with the American Dance Theatre in Chicago. Currently Elsie is a District Content Coach with the Albuquerque Public School System. Her current focus explores ways to create the optimum learning environments that nurture students' development and allows for their ability to mediate their own learning. Her research focuses on the impact of teaching children using the "Da Vinci ways of thinking" a thinking model she developed that incorporates the latest in brain research.

Sarah Johnson - Director & CEO

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee" Marian Wright Edelman.

Sarah has called Fundamentals her second home for many years now. She began working as a pre-school teacher when Fundamentals opened in 1999 and went on to build the Girls' Fundamentals and Level Programs. She is a former competitive gymnast in Albuquerque. Sarah graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's of Science in Organizational Communication and Business Management. Sarah has worked hard to build Fundamentals into a company with a strong sense of purpose. She has many traits (discipline, integrity, organization, and determination) that make her very effective in her role as CEO of Fundamentals. Her primary role is to maintain Fundamentals on track with it's core values, statement of purpose and long term direction.

She married her husband, Brendan in July of 2003. They have a daughter , Aria, who is the song in her parent's hearts.

Tbir Fong - Director / Tumble Bear Island (PreSchool Gymnastics)

Tbir is a Panda bear from China. He had a very difficult time in school growing up, so his parents enrolled him in a performing arts school . It wasnt until much later that he discovered that he had a learning disability. But he worked hard to read and write and new even speaks 7 languages.Tbir has always had a passion for helping others. He now has a worldwide mission to make sure all children have the skills to excel at reading . Tbir is just a cartoon character, but that has never stopped him.

All Teachers and Coaches at Fundamentals are positive role models and have a personal commitment to inspire children to reach their highest potential.
